There are two classifications of roofing licenses:
Limited Roofing Licenses: These contractors may provide services exclusively for residential properties and condominium buildings containing no more than eight units.
Unlimited Roofing Licenses: These contractors are authorized to provide services for residential, commercial, and industrial properties.

What is an adjuster?
There are three types of insurance adjusters:
- A “company adjuster" is an employee of your insurance company. They represent the interest of the insurance company and are paid by the insurance company. They will not charge you a fee.
- An “independent adjuster" is hired on a contract basis by your insurance company to represent the insurance company's interest in the settlement of your claim. They are paid by your insurance company. They will not charge you a fee.
- A “public adjuster" does not work for any insurance company, is not a public employee, and does not work on behalf of the State of Illinois, Department of Insurance, or any other public agency. They work for you to assist in the preparation, presentation, and settlement of your claim.
A public adjuster is mandated to operate with objectivity and unwavering loyalty to the interests of the insured. Their role is to provide information, counsel, and services that are specifically tailored to best meet your insurance claim needs and protect your rights.
The Illinois Department of Insurance regulates insurance companies and the insurance industry in the state. This includes overseeing the licensing of insurance agents, brokers, and public adjusters, as well as ensuring compliance with state insurance laws and protecting consumers' interests. Our partner public adjusters are fully licensed by the Department and participate in ongoing education to guarantee they provide the highest standard of service and remain current with applicable regulations governing their practice.
